This project uses two build systems, PlatformIO and CMake. PIO is for code which runs on embedded devices - these run the actual hardware. CMake is for running tests on standard PCs.

To build with PlatformIO, run pio run -e , where is one defined in platformio.ini (e.g. teensy`).

Colordance brain: common questions

What microcontroller does the Colordance brain use?

The Colordance brain is built around the PPPC241LFBN-RC, from the NXP family.

How big is the Colordance brain PCB?

The Colordance brain measures 129.5 × 83.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Colordance brain?

131 components, from 40 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Colordance brain design files?

From the ademuri/colordance-circle repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Colordance brain design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which ademuri chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Colordance brain without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
