This project uses two build systems, PlatformIO and CMake. PIO is for code which runs on embedded devices - these run the actual hardware. CMake is for running tests on standard PCs.

To build with PlatformIO, run pio run -e , where is one defined in platformio.ini (e.g. teensy`).

Interface brain: common questions

What microcontroller does the Interface brain use?

The Interface brain is built around the PPPC241LFBN-RC, from the NXP family.

How big is the Interface brain PCB?

The Interface brain measures 154.5 × 105 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Interface brain?

170 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Interface brain design files?

From the ademuri/colordance-circle repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Interface brain design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which ademuri chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Interface brain without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
