About the My keeb PCB

My keeb is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Ahmedjk4, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 298.6 × 108.6 mm, with 188 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 122 diodes, 63 switches, 1 module, 1 connector and 1 buzzer.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

I started by deciding on the layout and then decided what I wanted to include. I decided to include rgb leds, a rotary encoder, and a buzzer. Took me about 15 minutes or less

I designed the schematic and PCB in KiCad. This was one of the hardest parts because it was my first time designing a PCB. This holy step took more than 12 hours

My keeb: common questions

What microcontroller does the My keeb use?

The My keeb is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the My keeb PCB?

The My keeb measures 298.6 × 108.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the My keeb?

188 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the My keeb design files?

From the Ahmedjk4/my-keeb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the My keeb design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Ahmedjk4. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the My keeb without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
