About the Scupper84 PCB

Scupper84 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by amacleod, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 276.9 × 127.3 mm, with 258 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO RP2040 Castellated, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the 74HC595. By type, the board carries 85 diodes, 84 relays, 84 LEDs, 3 ICs, 1 switch and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

The Scupper 84 is an 84-key row-staggered low profile keyboard with CFX spacing.

Scupper84 Row-Staggered Wee Keyboard =====================================

The Scupper84 is an 84-key (75% layout) row-staggered keyboard in CFX spacing to be small. The name Scupper is a reference to the Stan Rogers song [Barrett's Privateers][barretts] which contains the lyric, "and the cook in the scuppers with the staggers and jags," since this keyboard uses a row-staggered design.

Scupper84: common questions

What microcontroller does the Scupper84 use?

The Scupper84 is built around the XIAO RP2040 Castellated, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Scupper84 PCB?

The Scupper84 measures 276.9 × 127.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Scupper84?

258 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Scupper84 design files?

From the amacleod/scupper84 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Scupper84 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which amacleod chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Scupper84 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
