The ProxiWave-D is an open-source, touchless proximity relay controller designed for contactless switching of 220VAC loads. It uses a VL53L0X Time-of-Flight (ToF) distance sensor to detect hand proximity within a calibrated range of 10mm to 30mm, triggering an onboard relay to switch AC loads — no physical contact required.

Proxiwave-D: common questions

What microcontroller does the Proxiwave-D use?

The Proxiwave-D is built around the ATmega328-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Proxiwave-D PCB?

The Proxiwave-D measures 50 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Proxiwave-D?

44 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Proxiwave-D design files?

From the ampnics/Proxiwave-D repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Proxiwave-D design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ampnics. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Proxiwave-D without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
