About the Broadcastnode PCB

Broadcastnode is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by aneeshlingala, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 36 × 34.8 mm, with 8 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY1614-SSNR, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the CH340C, AP2112K-3.3TRG1 and RFM95W-915S2. By type, the board carries 4 ICs, 1 jumper and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the rf & radio, sensors and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

2. Environmental PCB * This PCB utilizes the cost-friendly ESP32 MCU and uses Bosch BME280 and BME680 Sensors to capture data about the environment. It also uses AQI, VOC, and other environmental sensors. It broadcasts its data using an RFM95W LoRa module on 915mHz, with a u.FL antenna port. It is battery powered.

3. Broadcast PCB * This PCB uses the cheap ATTINY16-14 MCU and receives data from the other two PCBS using the RFM95W LoRa transceiver. It takes the information received and sends it over Serial on Micro-USB to a computer to read. It is powered by the Micro-USB port.

Broadcastnode: common questions

What microcontroller does the Broadcastnode use?

The Broadcastnode is built around the ATTINY1614-SSNR, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Broadcastnode PCB?

The Broadcastnode measures 36 × 34.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Broadcastnode?

8 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Broadcastnode design files?

From the aneeshlingala/FirstResponderSystem repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Broadcastnode design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with aneeshlingala. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Broadcastnode without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
