About the Photo table PCB

Photo table is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by art-of-electronics, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 60 × 40.2 mm, with 14 components from 9 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the WeMos_D1_mini, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the TMC2209_BTT. By type, the board carries 3 switches, 3 capacitors, 3 resistors, 2 ICs and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

Hardware driver for photo table

Folders contain following files: 1) CAD: table step and stl files for NEMA17 and NEMA23 type stepper motors, 2) GERB: gerber files for production (upload to JLCPCB and have fun), 3) Kicad: Kicad 6 project files, so you can fiddle to your hert's content.

I have also uploaded a schematic in pdf file and sample code in micropython for Wemos D1 mini (ESP8266) and Wemos S2 (ESP32) boards in main folder.

Photo table: common questions

What microcontroller does the Photo table use?

The Photo table is built around the WeMos_D1_mini, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Photo table PCB?

The Photo table measures 60 × 40.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Photo table?

14 components, from 9 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Photo table design files?

From the art-of-electronics/photo_table repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Photo table design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which art-of-electronics chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Photo table without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
