About the PicoDCC PCB
PicoDCC is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by bazauto, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40 × 100 mm, with 28 components from 16 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 8 test points, 8 resistors, 3 connectors, 2 ICs, 2 transistors and 2 diodes.
From the project
DCC command station firmware for the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 — PIO-generated track signal, partial DCC-EX protocol for JMRI, LVGL touchscreen UI
The carrier PCB the firmware runs on: a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 soldered down, two BTS7960 H-bridge modules (main and programming track), their fault LEDs, and headers for the display and debug. KiCad project, BOM and the Gerbers as sent to fab.
It was designed in KiCad 9.0.1 in April 2025, before this repo had any design review, and it is imported as it was built. Nothing in the KiCad files has been changed on the way in. The concerns found while importing it are listed below rather than fixed, because the boards in use are this revision.

PicoDCC: common questions
What microcontroller does the PicoDCC use?
The PicoDCC is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the PicoDCC PCB?
The PicoDCC measures 40 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the PicoDCC?
28 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the PicoDCC design files?
From the bazauto/PicoDCC repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the PicoDCC design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which bazauto chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the PicoDCC without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
