Its main chip is the RP2040 (Raspberry Pi), from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the LD1117S33TR (STMicroelectronics), AP3012K (Diodes Incorporated), IR2301 (Infineon Technologies), AP2204K-3.3 (Diodes Incorporated) and CBMuD1200L (Corebai). By type, the board carries 67 capacitors, 39 resistors, 19 ICs, 16 test points, 16 diodes and 6 transistors.

From the project

A Python-based hardware description language for PCBs for higher-level (block-diagram / system-architecture level) PCB design through libraries of directly reusable subcircuit generators.

Potential improvements for v2 - Converter in connectors: rotated 90 degrees, balanced lengths to V+ and V- - Bootstrap diodes: rotated 90 so they're not protruding into the converter power path pour - Maybe move decoupling caps closer to FPGA and MCU - Decoupling cap 1uF on USB Vbus line, as transient suppression

FcmlPanel: common questions

What microcontroller does the FcmlPanel use?

The FcmlPanel is built around the RP2040 (Raspberry Pi), from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the FcmlPanel PCB?

The FcmlPanel measures 115 × 72 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the FcmlPanel?

240 components, from 67 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the FcmlPanel design files?

From the BerkeleyHCI/PolymorphicBlocks repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the FcmlPanel design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its BSD-3-Clause license, which BerkeleyHCI chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the FcmlPanel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
