About the SIV PCB

SIV is an open source NXP PCB design by Big-Red-Sat, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 114.3 × 86.4 mm, with 12 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the OPA2387, from the NXP family. By type, the board carries 6 connectors and 1 IC.

It belongs with the power & battery and science & space designs in this gallery.

From the project

This repository contains the designs for the Big Red Sat-1, a 1U CubeSat examining the performance of perovskite solar cells in low earth orbit.

Teensy symbol library for KiCAD =======================================

This repo includes KiCAD symbols for the following Teensy versions:

- Teensy 1.0 - Teensy++ 1.0 - Teensy 2.0 - Teensy++ 2.0 - Teensy 3.0 - Teensy 3.1 - Teensy 3.2 - Teensy 3.5 - Teensy 3.6 - Teensy 4.0 - Teensy 4.1 - Teensy LC

There are two symbols for Teensy 3.5/3.6: one that includes the through-hole connections on Teensy and one that adds all of the SMT connections on the bottom of the Teensy.

SIV: common questions

What microcontroller does the SIV use?

The SIV is built around the OPA2387, from the NXP family.

How big is the SIV PCB?

The SIV measures 114.3 × 86.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SIV?

12 components, from 5 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SIV design files?

From the Big-Red-Sat/Big-Red-Sat-1 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SIV design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which Big-Red-Sat chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the SIV without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
