This directory contains the generated, routed KiCad controller board for the 5-inch touchscreen, user controls, and motor-volume daughterboard. Open frontpanelcontroller.kicadpro` in KiCad 10. KiCad does not live-reload files changed externally, so close and reopen the schematic/PCB editor after a generator or routing run.

The checked-in board is 150 x 90 mm with six copper layers:

Front panel controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Front panel controller use?

The Front panel controller is built around the STM32H753ZIT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Front panel controller PCB?

The Front panel controller measures 150 × 90 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Front panel controller?

103 components, from 45 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Front panel controller design files?

From the birdybro/FPGA_Amp repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Front panel controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which birdybro chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Front panel controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
