About the Adapter PCB

Adapter is an open source PCB design by bmo00, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 57.5 × 112.3 mm, with 6 components from 5 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the JAMMA_MALE, Taito conn_G_adapter_ps and Test_point. By type, the board carries 3 ICs and 2 resistors.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Arcade FPGA cores for multiple FPGA platforms

This work is based on the schematic work we did on an original FairyLand arcade PCB. The board turned out to be full of surprises.

The following features are present on the hardware and seem to be missing on emulators:

- sprite count limited to 8 per line without blinking, more than 8 sprites can be shown but some will blink - there is a RAM that sets the scroll-sprite priority, not fixed values - background tile flip control bits can be ignored by means of a global control bit - some MCU features are missing, such CPU bus sharing via bus request/acknowledgement - there are a lot of analog…

Adapter: common questions

How big is the Adapter PCB?

The Adapter measures 57.5 × 112.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Adapter?

6 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Adapter design files?

From the bmo00/arcfpga-cores repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Adapter design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which bmo00 chose for the repository.
