About the Fpga audio mixer PCB

Fpga audio mixer is an open source PCB design by brockbyte, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 341 × 234.5 mm, with 66 components from 16 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the PCA9548Board, MCP23017_SP, TB6612, MPR121QR2_Board and MCP3008. By type, the board carries 25 switches, 11 ICs, 10 resistors, 8 LEDs, 3 connectors and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the displays & leds and audio designs in this gallery.

There is an error in the schematic and board layout. PIN 36 of the 40 pin connector and PIN 13 of the MCP3008 IC should be connected, but due to a net name mismatch in the schematic, they are not.

You need to solder a connection manually between these two pins.

I first tried to connect the rotary encoders via the MCP I/O expander. However, that turned out to be not working properly due to a lot issues with switch bouncing, as the MCP were not fast enough for rotating the knobs quickly. So, I connected the rotary encoders also directly to the FPGA. Luckily, the Intel Dev board had a lot of…
