About the BuuKeeb PCB

BuuKeeb is an open source STM32 PCB design by buu342, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 431 × 122.3 mm, with 447 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F072C8Tx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the 74AHCT1G125, XC6206PxxxMR and USB6B1. By type, the board carries 119 capacitors, 108 LEDs, 105 diodes, 4 ICs, 3 resistors and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A custom keyboard PCB with 105 keys and ISO Enter, designed to fit in the case of a "Glorious PC GMMK 100% Barebones"

I've been wanting a decent mechanical keyboard for a while but I've been having a hard time finding something which fit into all of these categories: - 100% (105 keys) - ISO Enter - QMK support - LED indicators for Caps Lock, Numlock, and Scroll Lock (This one apparently is really difficult to find despite being standard in keyboards for centuries!)

I saw a Glorious PC GMMK Barebones Keyboard for 30€ which seemed to check all of these boxes (including per-key RGB which is a nice to have), but unfortunately the PCB revision I received had a crappy 8-bit MCU, which meant that writing QMK…

BuuKeeb: common questions

What microcontroller does the BuuKeeb use?

The BuuKeeb is built around the STM32F072C8Tx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the BuuKeeb PCB?

The BuuKeeb measures 431 × 122.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the BuuKeeb?

447 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the BuuKeeb design files?

From the buu342/BuuKeeb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the BuuKeeb design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with buu342. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the BuuKeeb without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
