About the Kvm pad PCB

Kvm pad is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by carbncl, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 3.7 × 3.7 mm, with 91 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA32U4, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6, TPS211x, TS3USB30 and CY7C65632-28LTXCT. By type, the board carries 22 diodes, 22 capacitors, 18 resistors, 8 relays, 6 ICs and 6 connectors.

It belongs with the keyboards and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

Kvm pad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Kvm pad use?

The Kvm pad is built around the ATMEGA32U4, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Kvm pad PCB?

The Kvm pad measures 3.7 × 3.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Kvm pad?

91 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Kvm pad design files?

From the carbncl/kvm-pad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Kvm pad design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which carbncl chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Kvm pad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
