About the Macropad PCB
Macropad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by cheyao, published on GitHub under the Zlib license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80.5 × 100 mm, with 45 components from 8 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the SEEEDUINO XIAO RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 20 diodes, 16 switches, 5 capacitors, 2 resistors, 1 IC and 1 LED.
It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.
From the project
A simple Macropad
- KiCad - Made a ton of revisions - OpenSCAD then FreeCAD (Fusion 360 doesn't work on my mac lol) Got like 400 constraints in my freecad project - Python firmware
Interactive bom at PCB/production/ibom.html
NOTE: I will need a 0.96” SSD1306 OLED screen that accepts 5V with 3.3V logic
The resistors are allso probably optional - but suggested by reddit

Macropad: common questions
What microcontroller does the Macropad use?
The Macropad is built around the SEEEDUINO XIAO RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the Macropad PCB?
The Macropad measures 80.5 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Macropad?
45 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Macropad design files?
From the cheyao/macropad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Macropad design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its Zlib license, which cheyao chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Macropad without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
