About the Idawgz32 PCB

Idawgz32 is an open source WCH CH32/CH55x PCB design by ChrisChrisLoLo, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 98.7 × 45.5 mm, with 81 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the CH552T, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family. By type, the board carries 34 switches, 32 diodes, 3 resistors, 2 capacitors, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A full 32 key mechanical keyboard that can be made for only $5

An experimental ultraportable and ultra affordable pocket keyboard that costs $5 worth of materials to make. The project goal is to make a keyboard that can be given away as freebies or gifts. Entire PCBA can be produced by JLCPCB. Uses a CH552 as its MCU, and runs FAK firmware.

I recommend using v2.0, though v0.0 has some workarounds outlined in my blog post.

Idawgz32: common questions

What microcontroller does the Idawgz32 use?

The Idawgz32 is built around the CH552T, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family.

How big is the Idawgz32 PCB?

The Idawgz32 measures 98.7 × 45.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Idawgz32?

81 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Idawgz32 design files?

From the ChrisChrisLoLo/idawgz32 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Idawgz32 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which ChrisChrisLoLo chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Idawgz32 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug WCH CH32/CH55x firmware against it before you order a PCB.
