About the Hackpad PCB

Hackpad is an open source PCB design by coder1529, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 56 × 99 mm, with 7 components from 3 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO and ER_OLEDM0.91_1x-I2C. By type, the board carries 5 switches and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

A stardance project #2 - Hackpad

My first real hardware project — a 5-key macropad with a rotary encoder and a tiny OLED screen, built for Hack Club Stardance. I designed the whole thing from scratch: schematic, PCB, and the 3D printed case.

A macropad is basically a mini keyboard just for shortcuts, so instead of digging through hotkey combos you tap one button and it's done. Mine has:

- 5 mechanical switches - 1 rotary encoder with a click function, so it acts as a 6th button too - A 0.91" I2C OLED screen - A Seeed XIAO RP2040 running the whole thing - A custom PCB with my dog on the silkscreen (non-negotiable)

Hackpad: common questions

How big is the Hackpad PCB?

The Hackpad measures 56 × 99 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hackpad?

7 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hackpad design files?

From the coder1529/Hackpad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hackpad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with coder1529. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
