Raspberry Pi Pico SAO Host Board

The Raspberry Pi Pico SAO Host is a breakout board that adds Simple Add-on (SAO) host connectors to the Raspberry Pi Pico.

The v2 design adds the following features:

A power switch (SW2) attached to the the Pico's 3V3EN input pin. A power LED (D1) that turns on when the Pico is powered on. A tactile reset switch (SW1) connected to the Pico's RUN input pin.

See the CHANGELOG for a full list of the changes from the previous version.

Rpi pico sao host: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rpi pico sao host use?

The Rpi pico sao host is built around the Raspberry Pi Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Rpi pico sao host PCB?

The Rpi pico sao host measures 62 × 51.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rpi pico sao host?

8 components, from 7 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rpi pico sao host design files?

From the common-ground-electronics/rpi-pico-sao-host repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rpi pico sao host design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Rpi pico sao host without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
