About the Copperhead quiet orbit PCB

Copperhead quiet orbit is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by copperheadhq, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 57 × 57 mm, with 19 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY84A-SSUR, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 7 resistors, 5 diodes, 3 capacitors, 2 connectors, 1 IC and 1 fuse.

From the project

USB-C four-light ambient lamp, 57 mm, ATtiny84A hardware PWM. Designed with copperhead. Never built: do not order expecting it to work.

KiCad 10 project for the Quiet Orbit QO-R1. Open .kicadpro`.

This board has never been fabricated. The series diode D1 (1N4148W) is the wrong part for the power path; a 1 A Schottky in the same SOD-123 footprint is the better fit.

Our own conservative set, not any named fab's: clearance 0.2 mm, track 0.25 mm signal and 0.5 mm on the power rails, via 0.65 / 0.3 mm, copper to edge 0.4 mm, hole clearance 0.25 mm, silk text at least 1.0 mm. No KiCad severity is changed from default and there are no DRC exclusions.

Copperhead quiet orbit: common questions

What microcontroller does the Copperhead quiet orbit use?

The Copperhead quiet orbit is built around the ATTINY84A-SSUR, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Copperhead quiet orbit PCB?

The Copperhead quiet orbit measures 57 × 57 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Copperhead quiet orbit?

19 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Copperhead quiet orbit design files?

From the copperheadhq/copperhead-quiet-orbit repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Copperhead quiet orbit design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Copperhead quiet orbit without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
