About the Duet3-ScanningZProbe PCB

Duet3-ScanningZProbe is an open source Microchip SAM PCB design by Duet3D, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 20 × 38 mm, with 60 components from 35 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATSAMC21G18A, from the Microchip SAM family. Other key parts include the LDC1612, AP7366-W5-7, MCP2542, alternitivelty MCP2558, LIS2DW12 and LDK130M25R. By type, the board carries 21 capacitors, 20 resistors, 6 ICs, 3 jumpers, 3 diodes and 2 connectors.

From the project

The Duet 3 Scanning Z probe is a CAN-FD connected inductive sensing board, with compatible inductive PCB coils. It allows for a point mesh of the bed to be built up quickly as no movement in Z is required to read the bed distance, and individual readings happen very quickly.

Duet3-ScanningZProbe: common questions

What microcontroller does the Duet3-ScanningZProbe use?

The Duet3-ScanningZProbe is built around the ATSAMC21G18A, from the Microchip SAM family.

How big is the Duet3-ScanningZProbe PCB?

The Duet3-ScanningZProbe measures 20 × 38 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Duet3-ScanningZProbe?

60 components, from 35 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Duet3-ScanningZProbe design files?

From the Duet3D/Duet3-ScanningZProbe repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Duet3-ScanningZProbe design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Duet3D. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Duet3-ScanningZProbe without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
