About the Andromepad V2 PCB

Andromepad V2 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by DwayneCrous, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 67.3 × 83.8 mm, with 44 components from 9 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the TCA9555RTWR. By type, the board carries 15 resistors, 11 switches, 11 diodes, 5 capacitors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Andromepad is a 9-key macropad with two sliders, three knobs, and a tiny OLED screen. Nothing fancy, just a fun, customizable gadget for messing around with shortcuts and making my setup feel cooler.

A custom mechanical macropad PCB project by DwayneR Engineering, designed in KiCad. This is the first revision of the macropad.

Powered by a Seeeduino XIAO series microcontroller. Includes a rotary encoder with a switch, which can be used for volume control, scrolling, or other functions. Uses a TCA9555RTWR 16-bit I/O expander to manage the key matrix. Includes a potentiometer. * Designed with components from the Seeed Studio OPL KiCad library.

Andromepad V2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Andromepad V2 use?

The Andromepad V2 is built around the MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Andromepad V2 PCB?

The Andromepad V2 measures 67.3 × 83.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Andromepad V2?

44 components, from 9 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Andromepad V2 design files?

From the DwayneCrous/AndromePad-V1 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Andromepad V2 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with DwayneCrous. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Andromepad V2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
