Fall 2022 ECE 411 Practicum Project for Group 11

This handheld game console was designed with a simple user interface and at a affortable cost. The device contains 4 direction/navigation buttons, 2 action buttons, power switch, and a QWIIC I2C connector for adding accessory sensors and devices such as an accelerometer for motion control with the Handheld Video Game Console. The system uses a 3.7V 2000mah LiPo battery that is rechargable through the USB connection. The USB connection serves to not only charge the LiPo battery but also for user to upload their own coded games. This device uses the Arduino IDE (Processing language) to code…

ECE411-PracticumProject-G11: common questions

What microcontroller does the ECE411-PracticumProject-G11 use?

The ECE411-PracticumProject-G11 is built around the ATMEGA32U4-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the ECE411-PracticumProject-G11 PCB?

The ECE411-PracticumProject-G11 measures 140 × 64.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ECE411-PracticumProject-G11?

63 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ECE411-PracticumProject-G11 design files?

From the ECE411-Practicum-Group11/ECE411-PracticumProject-G11 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ECE411-PracticumProject-G11 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC0-1.0 license, which ECE411-Practicum-Group11 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ECE411-PracticumProject-G11 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
