About the 3x3-Hackpad submission PCB

3x3-Hackpad submission is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Enzo13221, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 62 × 82 mm, with 12 components from 3 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 9 switches, 2 diodes and 1 IC.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is my 3x3 hackpad key board submission. I had a lot of fun learning how to use Kicad, Fusion, and other software while designing this. It is really simple just the base project plus extra keys and a bigger box. While working on this project I had one thing in mind and that was moving on to more complex projects.

This repository contains the source files for my keyboard firmware. It includes main.py for KMK and all necessary supporting files.

3x3-Hackpad submission: common questions

What microcontroller does the 3x3-Hackpad submission use?

The 3x3-Hackpad submission is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the 3x3-Hackpad submission PCB?

The 3x3-Hackpad submission measures 62 × 82 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 3x3-Hackpad submission?

12 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 3x3-Hackpad submission design files?

From the Enzo13221/3x3-Hackpad-submission repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 3x3-Hackpad submission design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Enzo13221. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the 3x3-Hackpad submission without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
