About the LEDcube PCB

LEDcube is an open source STM32 PCB design by eurovibes, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40 × 40 mm, with 23 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F030F4Px, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AP1117-33 and SP3485CN. By type, the board carries 6 capacitors, 5 diodes, 3 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 resistors and 2 jumpers.

It belongs with the wearables designs in this gallery.

LEDcube is provided under the terms of the CERN-OHL-S license version 2 as provided in the LICENSES/CERN-OHL-S-2.0 file.

Instead of adding license boilerplates to the individual files, LEDcube uses SPDX license identifiers, which are machine parseable and considered legaly equivalent.

The SPDX license identifier in LEDcube shall be added at the first possible line in a file which can contain a comment. This is normally the first line except for scripts. Scripts require the #!PATHTOINTERPRETER tag in the first line; place the SPDX identifier into the second line.

LEDcube: common questions

What microcontroller does the LEDcube use?

The LEDcube is built around the STM32F030F4Px, from the STM32 family.

How big is the LEDcube PCB?

The LEDcube measures 40 × 40 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the LEDcube?

23 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LEDcube design files?

From the eurovibes/LEDcube repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LEDcube design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with eurovibes. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the LEDcube without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
