About the USB-DALI PCB

USB-DALI is an open source STM32 PCB design by even-notodd, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 71.3 × 25.4 mm, with 43 components from 27 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F103C8T6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the PC817, AMS1117-3.3 and MT3608. By type, the board carries 15 resistors, 9 capacitors, 6 diodes, 5 ICs, 5 connectors and 1 transistor.

USB-DALI interface converter

The module can work with DALI line powered from external DALI power supply or powered from own built-in 16V 160mA converter (powered from USB). If you are planning to use external power supply it’s important to open 2 jumpers on the board before connection the module to DALI network and USB. Do not use 2 power supplies (external and internal) at the same time! While working with both of jumpers open (external power supply), the module provides galvanic isolation between USB and DALI, but when powered from built-in power supply, DALI line has not galvanic isolation from USB. USB-DALI: common questions

What microcontroller does the USB-DALI use?

The USB-DALI is built around the STM32F103C8T6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the USB-DALI PCB?

The USB-DALI measures 71.3 × 25.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the USB-DALI?

43 components, from 27 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the USB-DALI design files?

From the even-notodd/USB-DALI repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the USB-DALI design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which even-notodd chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the USB-DALI without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
