About the Cosmonode ext02 PCB

Cosmonode ext02 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by exostic, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 48.3 × 31.8 mm, with 23 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 10 connectors, 8 capacitors, 2 transistors, 2 switches and 1 IC.

It belongs with the sensors and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Kicad plans to design a base node as the main PCB. It also contains extensions adapted for different set of sensors/connectors.

Universal node, plug and play extensions to ease sensors connection.

- Compile and flash with Arduino IDE - MCU = ATMega328P-AU - radio = RN2483 / RFM69CW ( communications based on LoRaWan or MySensors protocol ) - 3.3V regulation ( XC6206P332MR ) - Powered by 3.7V LiPo battery ( 2 pins JST connector ) - Battery charging ( MCP7831 ) - State LED's - Jumpers to activate radio reset, LED's, on/off switch - Button for reset / config mode, or anything else! - ATSHA204 to allow hardware unique signature ( no use with RN2483 )

Cosmonode ext02: common questions

What microcontroller does the Cosmonode ext02 use?

The Cosmonode ext02 is built around the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Cosmonode ext02 PCB?

The Cosmonode ext02 measures 48.3 × 31.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Cosmonode ext02?

23 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Cosmonode ext02 design files?

From the exostic/Cosmonode_PCBs repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Cosmonode ext02 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with exostic. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Cosmonode ext02 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
