About the Cosmonode PCB

Cosmonode is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by exostic, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 59.7 × 36.2 mm, with 47 components from 30 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the RFM69CW, RN2483, XC6206P332MR, ATSHA204 and MCP73811T-420I/OT. By type, the board carries 12 connectors, 11 resistors, 9 capacitors, 6 ICs, 5 diodes and 2 jumpers.

It belongs with the sensors and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Kicad plans to design a base node as the main PCB. It also contains extensions adapted for different set of sensors/connectors.

The core is based on ATMega328P-AU, RFM69CW, M25P40

- Compile and flash with arduino - RF communications based on MySensors protocol - OTA upload - Powered by LiPo battery ( 2 pins JST connector ) - ATSHA204 to allow hardware unique signature - Universal node, plug and play extensions to ease sensors connection

Cosmonode: common questions

What microcontroller does the Cosmonode use?

The Cosmonode is built around the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Cosmonode PCB?

The Cosmonode measures 59.7 × 36.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Cosmonode?

47 components, from 30 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Cosmonode design files?

From the exostic/Cosmonode_PCBs repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Cosmonode design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with exostic. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Cosmonode without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
