Description: - Small board to control hoby type servo, as relacement for switch in model tarine sets.

Source reference: - Elektor 2004-06.pdf, p. 38 (38) - ref. no. 030209-1

This is functional similar but not exact copy. All dimensions were estimated by eye. Tried to use similar component placment as much as posible, but using only Kicad standard PCB component footprint library, so dimentions may very.

SmoothOperator: common questions

What microcontroller does the SmoothOperator use?

The SmoothOperator is built around the PIC16F84A, from the PIC family.

How big is the SmoothOperator PCB?

The SmoothOperator measures 79.4 × 45.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SmoothOperator?

28 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SmoothOperator design files?

From the eyalo-dev/cad-public repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SmoothOperator design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with eyalo-dev. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the SmoothOperator without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
