About the Custom keyboard PCB

Custom keyboard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by F9Motion, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 434.2 × 148 mm, with 217 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 108 switches, 108 diodes and 1 module.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

hey! this is text explaining what my awesome project is :)

here's an AWESOME screenshoot of my keyboard in action!

this custom keyboard was designed in KiCad for the PCB, modeled in Blender for the 3D-printed enclosure, and runs on CircuitPython :D

Connect your microcontroller board in BOOTLOADER mode via USB

Copy the CircuitPython firmware files and keymap script to your device drive firmware in my github repositorie ~~https://github.com/f9motion/custom-keyboard~~

Custom keyboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Custom keyboard use?

The Custom keyboard is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Custom keyboard PCB?

The Custom keyboard measures 434.2 × 148 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Custom keyboard?

217 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Custom keyboard design files?

From the F9Motion/custom-keyboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Custom keyboard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with F9Motion. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Custom keyboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
