About the HagiwoHatNoise SMT PCB

HagiwoHatNoise SMT is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by fablabnk, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 30 × 106 mm, with 37 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ARDUINO_NANO_V3.X, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 13 resistors, 7 diodes, 7 capacitors, 5 connectors, 1 module and 1 transistor.

- we won't have pots, jacks or power header assembled, just resistors/caps/transistors/maybe LED - it's better/less costly to place components just on one side of the board - for v1.0 we continue to mount arduino on pin headers - for v2.0 we can aim to just use atmega chip directly (though it likely won't be cheaper) - it is possible to use BOM tool to autodetect parts, though its detection isn't great - it's a bit chicken and egg i.e. our BOM is through-hole parts and we need to know which SMT parts to use - to save cash look for 'basic'…

HagiwoHatNoise SMT: common questions

What microcontroller does the HagiwoHatNoise SMT use?

The HagiwoHatNoise SMT is built around the ARDUINO_NANO_V3.X, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the HagiwoHatNoise SMT PCB?

The HagiwoHatNoise SMT measures 30 × 106 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HagiwoHatNoise SMT?

37 components, from 21 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HagiwoHatNoise SMT design files?

From the fablabnk/HagiwoHatNoise_SMT repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HagiwoHatNoise SMT design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with fablabnk. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the HagiwoHatNoise SMT without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
