From the project

A MIDI sequencer using marbles.

MIDI Marble Sequencer is a hardware + firmware project that detects marbles on IR sensor tracks and outputs MIDI over USB. The system is split into a main ESP-IDF firmware (sequencer + USB MIDI) and ESP32-based control boards (Arduino/PlatformIO) connected over I2C.

Marble sequencer control circuits: common questions

What microcontroller does the Marble sequencer control circuits use?

The Marble sequencer control circuits is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32D_30_pins_devboard, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Marble sequencer control circuits PCB?

The Marble sequencer control circuits measures 112 × 81 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Marble sequencer control circuits?

27 components, from 13 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Marble sequencer control circuits design files?

From the felicien-brochu/midi_marble_sequencer repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Marble sequencer control circuits design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with felicien-brochu. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Marble sequencer control circuits without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
