About the Fence PCB

Fence is an open source WCH CH32/CH55x PCB design by floitsch, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 76.2 × 38 mm, with 46 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the CH32X035C8T6, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family. Other key parts include the XC6206P332MR, CH446Q and TPS60401DBV. By type, the board carries 21 resistors, 11 capacitors, 6 connectors, 5 ICs, 1 jumper and 1 switch.

From the project

Research project for coupled, autonomous PCB placement and routing (Rust, KiCad-gated)

These boards come from a separate hardware project, the "breadboard fence" in ~/programming/breadboard-enhancer/hw/ (generator fence.toit, written in Toit; the finished boards are in its kicad/). That project uses pcb-maker as its placer and router and never patches it. Instead, everything pcb-maker got wrong, or could not express, is logged here together with the boards that show it.

Fence: common questions

What microcontroller does the Fence use?

The Fence is built around the CH32X035C8T6, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family.

How big is the Fence PCB?

The Fence measures 76.2 × 38 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Fence?

46 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Fence design files?

From the floitsch/pcb-maker repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Fence design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which floitsch chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Fence without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug WCH CH32/CH55x firmware against it before you order a PCB.
