About the Wltc usb keyboard PCB

Wltc usb keyboard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by fpracek, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 336.5 × 178 mm, with 183 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 90 switches, 90 diodes and 1 module.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

USB replica of the Wang LapTop Computer keyboard - PCB + Pico firmware

KiCad 7 project for the replica keyboard PCB: a 7x16 diode matrix wired to a Raspberry Pi Pico footprint, laid out to match the real WLTC keyboard's physical key positions (reconstructed from a photo of a real unit, cross-checked against the PORTNAME/PORTCODE table in the MAME driver so the firmware's HID output lands on the exact keys the driver expects - see ../firmware/).

Wltc usb keyboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wltc usb keyboard use?

The Wltc usb keyboard is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Wltc usb keyboard PCB?

The Wltc usb keyboard measures 336.5 × 178 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wltc usb keyboard?

183 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wltc usb keyboard design files?

From the fpracek/wltc-usb-keyboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wltc usb keyboard design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which fpracek chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Wltc usb keyboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
