About the WledController PCB

WledController is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by Gi7mo, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 96.5 × 36.8 mm, with 18 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP8266-12E/ESP-12E, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the Meanwell_MPM-20-5 and AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 7 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 connectors, 2 switches, 2 capacitors and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

The Power supply is a 100-240VAC one and rated at 5v 4A, don't exceed the power of the supply. Use e.g. the WLED power calculator

As i live in germany, the pcb is only tested with 230V AC, if you supply any other voltage, be warned!

It can go up in flames, explode or kill you. It's main power!

WledController: common questions

What microcontroller does the WledController use?

The WledController is built around the ESP8266-12E/ESP-12E, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the WledController PCB?

The WledController measures 96.5 × 36.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the WledController?

18 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the WledController design files?

From the Gi7mo/WledController repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the WledController design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Gi7mo. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the WledController without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
