About the Calculator PCB

Calculator is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by hdkghc, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 81.3 × 131.4 mm, with 61 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the Arduino_Nano_v2.x and TFT. By type, the board carries 37 switches, 14 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 capacitors, 2 transistors and 2 connectors.

From the project

A computer algebra system project written in C++, built for the i.MX RT1011 crossover MCU.

A scientific/graphical calculator firmware for Raspberry Pi Pico, with CAS (Computer Algebra System) and graphical display support.

Status: Under active development. Core CAS and display subsystem are partially implemented; basic arithmetic, expression parsing, and simplification are functional. Integration and matrix operations are in progress.

- CAS core: expression parsing, simplification, differentiation, integration (partial), rational arithmetic, symbolic manipulation. - Display: 1.8" ST7735 TFT (160×128) with custom font rendering (ClassWiz-style fonts included). - Input: 6×6 matrix…

Calculator: common questions

What microcontroller does the Calculator use?

The Calculator is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Calculator PCB?

The Calculator measures 81.3 × 131.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Calculator?

61 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Calculator design files?

From the hdkghc/calculator repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Calculator design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which hdkghc chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Calculator without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
