About the Gran-Ornament PCB

Gran-Ornament is an open source STM32 PCB design by HenrikBiscuit, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 25.9 × 24.2 mm, with 19 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G030F6Px, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MCP73831-2-OT, DW01A and FS8205A_C2830320. By type, the board carries 6 resistors, 4 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 capacitors and 2 diodes.

From the project

A small, rechargeable, two-sided LED Christmas ornament.

Each revision that is sent to fabrication gets a Git tag (hw-vA, hw-vB, ...) and a GitHub Release with the fabrication zip attached, so it is always possible to see exactly what was built.

A PDF export of the schematic lives in docs/schematic-revX.pdf (File → Plot in the schematic editor). Re-export it whenever the schematic changes meaningfully, so visitors can follow along without installing KiCad.

Gran-Ornament: common questions

What microcontroller does the Gran-Ornament use?

The Gran-Ornament is built around the STM32G030F6Px, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Gran-Ornament PCB?

The Gran-Ornament measures 25.9 × 24.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Gran-Ornament?

19 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Gran-Ornament design files?

From the HenrikBiscuit/Gran-Ornament repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Gran-Ornament design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Gran-Ornament without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
