About the Evj55 PCB

Evj55 is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by hpeyerl, published on GitHub under the BSD-2-Clause license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.1 × 89.8 mm, with 72 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Radxa CM3 rk3566, from the Raspberry Pi family. By type, the board carries 11 capacitors, 7 resistors, 4 transistors and 1 connector.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

A HAT for a Raspberry Pi, in this case a CM4IO carrier with a RadXA CM3 module connected to a Waveshare 12.3 TOUCHA display, and a Waveshare dual CAN hat.

Note: The version pictured below has the RJ45 connector backwards. This is fixed in the current version which has not been fabbed.

RevUS Parking Brake controller status LED inputs. Up to 4 MagRide outputs for ride control (GM coils) GPS input Dual daisy-chained CAN (RJ-45) Center-Diff-Lock status input. HF2A Transfer case Lo-Range status input. HF2A transfer case VSS input. Dimmer status input (for day/night modes)

Evj55: common questions

What microcontroller does the Evj55 use?

The Evj55 is built around the Radxa CM3 rk3566, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the Evj55 PCB?

The Evj55 measures 99.1 × 89.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Evj55?

72 components, from 22 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Evj55 design files?

From the hpeyerl/evj55 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Evj55 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its BSD-2-Clause license, which hpeyerl chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Evj55 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
