About the VoltWatch PCB

VoltWatch is an open source ESP32 PCB design by hridhayesh09, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 72 × 53 mm, with 7 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-DevKitC-32E, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 3 capacitors, 2 resistors, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Custom PCB power surge detection system using ESP32 and ZMPT101B

Overview VoltWatch is a custom-designed PCB system that monitors residential power quality in real time, detects voltage surges, and sends alerts before equipment damage occurs. Inspired by a personal experience where a thunderstorm surge destroyed a pair of speakers.

VoltWatch: common questions

What microcontroller does the VoltWatch use?

The VoltWatch is built around the ESP32-DevKitC-32E, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the VoltWatch PCB?

The VoltWatch measures 72 × 53 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the VoltWatch?

7 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the VoltWatch design files?

From the hridhayesh09/VoltWatch repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the VoltWatch design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with hridhayesh09. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the VoltWatch without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
