About the Wanptek encoder PCB
Wanptek encoder is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by igorzab-stud, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 56 × 51 mm, with 7 components from 6 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the KY-040. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 1 IC, 1 module and 1 capacitor.
It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.
From the project
Digital front-panel mod for Wanptek DC power supplies — replaces analog potentiometers with dual rotary encoders, MCP4725 DACs, and an OLED display.
A drop-in digital control upgrade for Wanptek bench DC power supplies that replace the stock, finicky analog potentiometers with digital rotary encoders, dual 12-bit DACs, and an OLED readout.
Stock Wanptek power supplies often ship with single-turn or coarse analog potentiometers that make dialling in exact voltage and current limits tedious and imprecise.
This mod replaces the analog control loop inputs with a microcontroller-driven interface, allowing precision stepping, fine/coarse toggling, quick voltage presets, and automatic EEPROM state recall.

Wanptek encoder: common questions
What microcontroller does the Wanptek encoder use?
The Wanptek encoder is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the Wanptek encoder PCB?
The Wanptek encoder measures 56 × 51 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.600198 mm thick.
How many components are on the Wanptek encoder?
7 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Wanptek encoder design files?
From the igorzab-stud/wanptek_encoder repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Wanptek encoder design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which igorzab-stud chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Wanptek encoder without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
