About the Tige-TAPS2 PCB

Tige-TAPS2 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by ikester1, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 63 × 70 mm, with 25 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the LM2941CS, CPC5002G, 280384-2 and MB85RC64TA. By type, the board carries 8 resistors, 5 ICs, 4 test points, 2 diodes, 2 capacitors and 1 transistor.

Replacement for the Lenco "black box" trim controller on older Tige ski boats

This is a replacement for the original trim controller for an early 2000's Tige 22v wakeboard boat. The electric actuator is made by Lenco, the Tige logo'd trim indicator gauge is probably made by Faria, and the "black box" controller is under the dashboard. The "black box" takes the trim switch input and drives the actuator and gauge. Coupled with a plate on the transom, Tige called the entire system TAPS2.

Tige-TAPS2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Tige-TAPS2 use?

The Tige-TAPS2 is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Tige-TAPS2 PCB?

The Tige-TAPS2 measures 63 × 70 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tige-TAPS2?

25 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tige-TAPS2 design files?

From the ikester1/Tige-TAPS2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tige-TAPS2 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ikester1. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Tige-TAPS2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
