About the Main Board

Main Board is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by jackwangxyw, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 75 × 45 mm, with 32 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY3224, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP73831T. By type, the board carries 13 resistors, 5 connectors, 5 capacitors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs and 2 switches.

It belongs with the displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Compact SWR and power meter for field use

This is a compact standalone power and SWR meter designed for field use. The rectifier diodes used in this design have relatively flat performance up to 50MHz, so it is able to cover all of the HF bands. It is built around the ATtiny 3224 microcontroller, so writing your own or modifying the existing code is easy.

- Accurate Power and SWR measurements for HF + 6m - 0.96in OLED display - Numerical and graph views for power and SWR - Peak hold indicator on power bar - 25w max power limit - Built in 1000mAh battery for over 40 hours of continuous use, 120 hours of realistic field use, and…

Main Board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Main Board use?

The Main Board is built around the ATTINY3224, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Main Board?

The Main Board measures 75 × 45 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6062 mm thick.

How many components are on the Main Board?

32 components, from 22 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Main Board design files?

From the jackwangxyw/QRP-RF-Power-and-SWR-Meter repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Main Board design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Main Board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
