About the Sensor node PCB

Sensor node is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by JacobFV, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 45 mm, with 13 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY85-20P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP6001. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 3 capacitors, 3 resistors, 2 ICs and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the audio and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

A deterministic Rust synthetic computer world with Python, JavaScript/Wasm, multi-device desktops and synthetic networking.

A fictional small company, Northstar Workshop, deliberately supplied as data rather than kernel defaults. The definition is consumed by the same loader as a custom one-machine world. Names ending in .internal and .example resolve only inside the declared synthetic network; none describe a host-internet dependency.

The scenario starts with Alice on a mac workstation, Bob on a Windows workstation, Carol on an Ubuntu workstation, an Ubuntu application server and an internal Git server. Independent mail, document, chat, calendar, issue and website services share facts through their APIs. A…

Sensor node: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sensor node use?

The Sensor node is built around the ATTINY85-20P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Sensor node PCB?

The Sensor node measures 70 × 45 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sensor node?

13 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sensor node design files?

From the JacobFV/computerworld repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sensor node design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which JacobFV chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Sensor node without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
