About the Jamboard-R PCB

Jamboard-R is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by jamdotjar, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 141.5 × 117.8 mm, with 116 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 58 diodes, 28 switches, 28 capacitors, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

I'll replace this with a proper photo once it's built, but for now heres a quick render

This is my first custom keyboard design, and my second hardware project. It was designed with a few goals in mind: 1. to be functional ( not broken, hard to break ) 2. to be mine ( my own design, for my use case ) 3. to be simple ( simple to use, simple to build ) 4. to be something I'll actually use.

Jamboard-R: common questions

What microcontroller does the Jamboard-R use?

The Jamboard-R is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Jamboard-R PCB?

The Jamboard-R measures 141.5 × 117.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Jamboard-R?

116 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Jamboard-R design files?

From the jamdotjar/jam56s repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Jamboard-R design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jamdotjar. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Jamboard-R without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
