About the Led driver PCB

Led driver is an open source STM32 PCB design by Jana-Marie, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 41.6 × 32.6 mm, with 112 components from 28 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G431xB, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AP2204R-3.3, LM3480-12, STUSB4500 and TPS54201. By type, the board carries 50 capacitors, 35 resistors, 10 ICs, 7 connectors, 6 inductors and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and power & battery designs in this gallery.

The LÄMP-Spöt, a snack for moths

LÄMP-Spöt is an open source, multi-channel (multi-colour) LED spot that aims to deliver high quality effect-lighting through up to 6 LED-channels with ~10W each. This allows for a broader colour range than just RGB or RGBW, but RGB + non-mixed secondaries (i.e. RGB, Yellow, Cyan, Purple), RGB + Yellow + Whites, a variety of White tones (with degrees of Red, Blue and Green hues) and of course effect channels (i.e. UV, IR). In that, I have assembled various spöts that follow these suggestions, one that features RGBY + UV + IR, RGBY + IR + White and one with three channels of white + UV + IR for…

Led driver: common questions

What microcontroller does the Led driver use?

The Led driver is built around the STM32G431xB, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Led driver PCB?

The Led driver measures 41.6 × 32.6 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Led driver?

112 components, from 28 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Led driver design files?

From the Jana-Marie/LAEMP-Spoet repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Led driver design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which Jana-Marie chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Led driver without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
