About the VeloDashboard PCB

VeloDashboard is an open source NXP PCB design by JanBurp, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 131.5 × 119.5 mm, with 58 components from 36 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the TEENSY4.0, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the LDD-700L, SN74AHCT125N and LC78_05 2.0. By type, the board carries 24 resistors, 14 connectors, 9 ICs, 7 switches, 2 diodes and 1 battery holder.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

In the summer of 2022 i bought a second hand Quest velomobile. It was in very good shape, had only driven 8000km while only 10 years old, and it fits my budget.

But it was missing blinkers, had a 6V system on board, and two headlights which could be turned on independent from eachother. Which results in my Quest looking cross-eyed :-( That could be done better.

VeloDashboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the VeloDashboard use?

The VeloDashboard is built around the TEENSY4.0, from the NXP family.

How big is the VeloDashboard PCB?

The VeloDashboard measures 131.5 × 119.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the VeloDashboard?

58 components, from 36 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the VeloDashboard design files?

From the JanBurp/VeloDashboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the VeloDashboard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with JanBurp. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the VeloDashboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
