About the Face PCB

Face is an open source PCB design by jason-watkins, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 140 × 70 mm, with 13 components from 7 distinct parts.

By type, the board carries 6 resistors, 3 capacitors and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

USB-C powered nixie tube clock. Four IN-12B digits, two INS-1 colon lamps, K155ID1 BCD decoder/drivers.

USB-PD negotiates 5-12V supply and feeds it into 3 converters:

- Flyback boost: 170V for the tube anodes - 3.3V buck boost for the MCU. Boost exists to make sure a 3.3V FTDI type UART adapter provides the full 3.3V to the rail. - 5V buck for the BCD drivers, bypassed if the source itself is 5V

Face: common questions

How big is the Face PCB?

The Face measures 140 × 70 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Face?

13 components, from 7 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Face design files?

From the jason-watkins/nixie-clock repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Face design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which jason-watkins chose for the repository.
