About the HelioHydration PCB
HelioHydration is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by jaydenaleung, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 50 × 50 mm, with 12 components from 10 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the DS18B20, GUVA-S12SD, LM7805_TO220 and 4-Wire-SPI. By type, the board carries 5 ICs, 4 capacitors, 2 resistors and 1 crystal.
It belongs with the power & battery and sensors designs in this gallery.
From the project
Three-stage solar water disinfection (SODIS)-enhancing low-cost water bottle for NGO distribution to underserved and impoverished areas globally.
This is a custom-designed water bottle to enhance solar water disinfection, a process where people utilize the sun's UV rays to kill bacteria in contaminated water, especially in places without access to clean water. The goal of this project is to design an efficient device that NGOs can buy and distribute to crisis areas around the world. The three stages are fiber membrane filtration, SODIS enhancement via clearer plastic materials, reflection, and heat-trapping, and indication/readiness tracking.

HelioHydration: common questions
What microcontroller does the HelioHydration use?
The HelioHydration is built around the ATMEGA328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the HelioHydration PCB?
The HelioHydration measures 50 × 50 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the HelioHydration?
12 components, from 10 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the HelioHydration design files?
From the jaydenaleung/helioHydration repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the HelioHydration design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jaydenaleung. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the HelioHydration without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
