About the Sdbox PCB

Sdbox is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by jbilander, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 55 × 59 mm, with 18 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_V3, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the Micro_SD_Card_Module and PVG612S. By type, the board carries 5 connectors, 5 resistors, 3 ICs, 2 transistors, 2 diodes and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

A parallel to sd-card project for the Amiga

This is a PCB made in KiCad (5.1.2-1) for hooking up an Arduino Nano V3 with a micro-sd-card module to the Amiga parallel-port.

For 3d-printing the sdbox case, check the README in the DSM folder.

Please note, you don't need to populate C1 if you're not going to use the barrel jack. R5 is only needed if U3 is populated. ***

Sdbox: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sdbox use?

The Sdbox is built around the Arduino_Nano_V3, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Sdbox PCB?

The Sdbox measures 55 × 59 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sdbox?

18 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sdbox design files?

From the jbilander/sdbox repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sdbox design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which jbilander chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Sdbox without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
