About the Bananaespresso PCB

Bananaespresso is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by JeffMainISM, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 85 × 65 mm, with 13 components from 3 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 8 switches, 4 diodes and 1 IC.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

First time working in 3D! Same with kicad. (i used easyeda before this). It's nothing much more than a "U" shaped pad. Very basic and possibly even funnily sub-par.

A small, fun build created during my first real steps into 3D design and KiCad (coming from EasyEDA). It’s nothing more than a simple “U-shaped” pad — basic, slightly janky, but charming in its own way. Alignment might be questionable, but hey… if it works, it works!

This board does exactly what it needs to: 8 keys and 4 LEDs. What else do you really need in life?

Bananaespresso: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bananaespresso use?

The Bananaespresso is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Bananaespresso PCB?

The Bananaespresso measures 85 × 65 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bananaespresso?

13 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bananaespresso design files?

From the JeffMainISM/Bananaespresso repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bananaespresso design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with JeffMainISM. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Bananaespresso without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
